The 1st runner-up in the Photographer of the Year 2017 is Peter Dorr from Soest in the Netherlands for this beautiful, ethereal interpretation of the Jiayuguan Fortress in China, taken on Better Moments’ Silk Road Workshop 2017.
Expert photographer Hans Strand commented:
“The photographer has gone for a very graphical expression here. The fortress is silhouetted against a pale background sky – this way the shape of the building is brought out very nicely.”
Better Moments CEO Christian Nørgaard said about this shot:
“In this dramatic image, Peter Dorr has chosen to interpret these two legendary structures not in colour, but in black-and-white silhouette, thus drawing our attention to the intricate lines of this ancient Chinese architecture and creating a particularly arresting graphical experience that goes far beyond the ordinary.”
Peter Dorr has joined us on several workshops, among them the India Workshop 2014 and the Silk Road Workshop 2017. See a collection of his images here.
