Majestic, picturesque and serene are all words that describe the mountains, valleys, plains, forests, rivers, flora and fauna of Abisko National, St. Sjöfallet National Park, aerial photography over the magnificent Lake Laidaure, Kebnekaise Massive, in Swedish Lapland. And Norway’s  Lofoten Islands.  Join in for aftenoon and evening shoot at Haukland, Vikten Beaches, Utakleiv Beach and, of course, shoot of Aurora Borealis in combination with sea scapes.

WHAT YOU WILL LEARN

Learn the art of aerial photography and to approach the unique challenges of landscape photography. And how to capture spaciousness, dynamic energy and the simplicity of natural landscape photography.

  • Work in different lighting and with short/long exposure times and aperture.

  • Private hands-on lessons that can help taking your photography skills to the next level

IN CLASSROOM

  • Expert review and constructive criticism of the images taken during the day.
  • Workflow in Photoshop and/or Light Room.
  • A Better Moments Certified Photo Instructor is available during the entire workshop to offer assistance with camera settings, the basics of composition, guide and help in general.

 


ITINERARY

DAY 1: ARRIVAL AT KIRUNA

Arrival at Kiruna Airport. Better Moments will pick you up at Kiruna Airport or at your Hotel in Kiruna. We drive south, through a varied landscape, consisting of vast lakes, open landscapes and with the Swedish and Norwegian mountains in the background. We will make stops spontaneously along the way to take pictures before we get to our hotel at St. Sjöfallet National Park.

After dinner, we make a presentation about the upcoming workshop and an deep workshop in aerial photography.

DAY 2: HELICOPTER FLIGHT AND AERIAL PHOTOGRAPHY

Morning helicopter flight and aerial photography over the magnificent Lake Laidaure and it´s surrounding woodlands and mountains then further over the lake into Sarek National Park ( UNESCO World Heritage ) and Rapa River Valley. This is considered being the last real wilderness of Europe and something really spectacular to be seen from above. The Rapa River cuts a 160 km valley through the Scandinavian Mountain Range. The valley is forested a with birch trees which this time of the year dresses up in vibrant yellow-orange colours. Afternoon and evening shoot in the magnificent old growth pine forest at St. Sjöfallet. Stay at St. Sjöfallet.

After dinner we meet for cozy review of today’s photography.

DAY 3: HELICOPTER FLIGHT AND AERIAL PHOTOGRAPHY

Drive to Nikkaloukta. Afternoon scenic helicopter flight and aerial photography of the mountains and rivers in the Kebnekaise Massive. The highest mountain peaks of Sweden.

Evening image review and briefing about tomorrow program.

DAY 4: ABISKO NATIONAL PARK

Drive west 100km to Abisko National Park where we shoot the winding Abisko River Canyon with its limestone formations and crystal clear water. Which offers landscapes both in the large and smaller scale. Evening shoot at Lake Njahkajavri in which the snowy mountain peaks to the south are reflecting nicely.

After dinner we meet for cozy review of today’s photography.

DAY 5: ABISKO AND LOFOTEN ISLANDS

Morning shoot of the autumn colored birch tree reflections in torrents of Abisko River and afternoon departure  across the border to Norway and further out towards the wild and jagged Lofoten Islands.

After dinner, and if we have energy, chase the northern lights along the beach.

DAY 6: FISHING VILLAGE AND NIGHT PHOTOGRAPHY

Morning drive to Reine, and shoot of the most scenic fishing village view in the whole of Scandinavia. Aftenoon and evening shoot at Haukland and Vikten Beaches. Which are bright sandy beaches with nice black stone formations.

Night photography of Aurora Borealis in combination with sea scapes.

DAY 7: UTAKLEIV BEACH AND EVENING SHOOT OF AURORA BOREALIS

An easy morning with workshops and review of images.

Afternoon and evening photography at Utakleiv Beach. Where the coastline is full of nicely shaped rock formations and a magnificent background of turqoise sea and jagged mountains.

Late evening shoot of Aurora Borealis in combination with sea scapes.

DAY 8: KIRUNA AND FAREWELL DINNER

We drive back to Kiruna, through a varied landscape, with the Swedish and Norwegian mountains in the background, and we will make stops along the way for more shooting opportunities.

In the evening  we meets for a nice farewell dinner.

DAY 9: DEPARTURE

Departure to home destinations.

GETTING THERE

The nearest airport is in Kiruna, Sweden, which has flights to from Stockholm by SAS and Norwegian.

Sweden

Sweden is a member of the Schengen Agreement. Nationals of EU and EFTA (Iceland, Liechtenstein, Norway, Switzerland) countries only need a valid national identity card or passport for entry. All other visitors are required to have a passport valid for at least three months beyond the intended stay, and some will need a visa. Please check with the local embassy.

Norway
